My Petz History

It all started with my older sister wanting me to play Petz 4 with her in the early 2000's. Unfortunately when I went to Secondary School Petz suddenly felt like a "baby game" and I stopped playing sometimes in 2005.

Fast forward to 2025 and my sister (who by this point has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease) is repeatedly asking why we’d uninstalled Petz from her computer. We hadn't, as far as we knew she hadn't even played it since her last laptop crashed. Seeing how much she desperately wanted to play petz again we went down the internet rabbit hole, mostly trying to figure out if Petz could still run on modern systems in a simple enough way that she could do it herself for as long as possible.

Somewhere along the way I rediscovered the joy of having computer pets, and here we are; two sisters enjoying a childhood computer game, for as long as we can.

My sister cannot interact with online communities properly anymore, but I'm sure if she could she'd be thrilled to see the community is still alive and well. I know I am.

Why Foxwing?

Foxwing is just the silly name I decided to use for my imaginary kennel. I didn't spend too long thinking about it, it's literally just Fox to represent my favourite dog breed (Tollers; some breed standards state they should have a foxy look to them!) and my favourite wild animal (the Red Fox!). Wing because I thought it was a nice tie in to how Tollers were developed for waterfowl hunting, waterfowl have wings so wing.

Fox+wing = Foxwing.

For the one person wondering why I went with Foxwing instead of Foxwings: I thought it sounded nicer than Foxwings.
